“What do you actually do all day?”

Oh, you know… just make music. 😂

And by “make music,” I mean:

Build every acoustic panel by hand.
Run and lay every cable.
Paint the walls.
Lay the carpet.
Set up every instrument.
Manage finances.
Record bands.
Mix songs.
Design, print and cut every sticker.
Heat-press every piece of merch.
Fix whatever broke that day.
Clean everything up… and then do it all again tomorrow.

Everyone tells you to escape the 9-to-5 and follow your dreams.

So I did—and accidentally signed up for the 10 a.m.-to-midnight, seven-days-a-week plan instead. 😂 I’m living the dream. I think?

For the last four years, I’ve worked constantly to take Seize The Night Records from a garage studio to a fully functioning commercial recording studio, label, music school and creative community.

People usually see the finished room, the released song or the packed event. They don’t always see the thousands of little jobs happening behind the scenes to make any of it possible.

I’m tired. I’m probably covered in sawdust, paint, sticker scraps or audio cables.

But I’m building my dream—and I wouldn’t trade that for anything. 🌙

LIVE MUSIC. LOUD AMPS. AN EVEN BETTER CAUSE. 🎗️

Yesterday, Seize The Night Records had the opportunity to sponsor production for the Sigma Chi Backyard Concert at USU, helping raise money for the @huntsmancancerinstitute !

And USU showed up.
Together, the event raised OVER $1,000 for cancer research, with an incredible lineup of local artists bringing the backyard to life.

🎤 Lila Daines kicked things off with an awesome looping acoustic solo performance.

🔥 Redline came out SHREDDING — bringing the ’80s ballad rock, grunge, massive guitars, and appropriately melting some faces.

And Hurry Up and Wait closed out the night with an incredible headline set.

Before the recording studio, there were parties.

This video is from 2012 — senior year of high school, and one of the first big events my friends and I ever put together.

We convinced nearly a dozen local businesses to donate food and supplies, took over Little Bear Bottoms, and created a massive Food Fight Fundraiser for our friend Zach, who was battling a brain tumor.

Chocolate syrup slip-n-slides. A spaghetti & meatball dunk tank. Music. A giant food fight. Absolute chaos — for a reason.

Back then, we called ourselves Rejected Street Royalty Entertainment (RSR). My two best friends and I would find venues, organize events, market them, build everything out, and then I’d DJ the party.

I had no idea what it would eventually become.

But looking back, this was the beginning.

Long before Seize The Night Records had a name, the idea was already there: use music to bring people together and build something that matters.

This is where it started. ❤️

There was never some perfect studio waiting for me. I had to build one. Over and over again.

I had bedroom studios. Apartment studios. I literally removed my bed in college and replaced it with a couch so I could make my bedroom function more like a studio.

Then, while working a full-time job, I decided I was going to take this seriously.

I took the one-car garage of an old 1950s house and started building.

Insulation. Sound treatment. Equipment. Construction. Whatever I could afford, whenever I could afford it.

I wasn’t just trying to build a recording studio.

After losing a friend to suicide in 2017, I spent years questioning what I was supposed to do with music and whether any of this actually mattered.

Eventually, that became the reason to keep going.

I wanted to build the kind of place where music could give someone confidence, purpose, community, and a reason to believe in themselves.

So I kept building.

One room. One song. One artist at a time.

And eventually, that little garage became something much bigger.

Yesterday’s Seize The Summer Concert with Young Powersports of Logan was incredible!

We started off in the Pioneer Day parade with our lead producer @planet.steve driving our trusty van and signed musician @skylarcook.music following along singing!

Then we transitioned to bike night were we had performers during some of the most incredible trick riding!

Then we closed out with @coolhatband and our band Seize The Night performing at our Seize The Summer Concert
