We had an incredible time with the 6th graders @edithbowenlaboratoryschool at USU for our yearly Science of Sound and Composition class!

From recording their own audio samples to writing original lyrics, we worked with these students to build a song completely from scratch. Watching as everyday sounds turn into real music is where the magic really is.

Huge shoutout to their amazing teacher Mr. Ethan Fallis for creating a space where creativity thrives, and the musical seed is planted in these young brains. Recording/Filming/Production/Composition brought to life by @planet.steve , lyrical guidance from @skylarcook.music — and the students brought the final dash of magic.

@planet.steve and @skylarcook.music had an incredible time at Edith Bowen Laboratory School @edithbowenlaboratoryschool working with their 6th graders on the science of sound 🎶

We dove into frequencies, vibrations, and how sounds interact — even exploring how non-instrument sounds can become music. From watching sound waves move to feeling the power of low frequencies through a speaker, these students got a hands-on look at how music is created from the ground up.

Over the next two weeks, this class will collaborate to write lyrics, build an instrumental, record their vocals, and creatively incorporate everyday sounds into a fully produced original song with Seize The Night Records.

We are Seize The Night Records, a recording studio and label in Smithfield, Utah, dedicated to empowering musicians and promoting mental health awareness.

Our mission is to support artists at every stage, from beginners to professionals, by offering professional recording, production, distribution, merchandising, photography, and videography services. We also provide music lessons that teach not just playing instruments—guitar, piano, bass, and vocals—but also writing, recording, and producing music to share with the world.

We believe music fosters self-reflection and empowerment, and we offer resources to help people use music to enhance their lives—whether by creating, learning, or supporting local talent.
